SSH, which is an abbreviation for Secure Shell, is a network protocol used to exchange protected information between a client and a hosting server, which makes it impossible for unauthorized parties to intercept any data. Many tech-savvy users opt for SSH due to the higher security level. The connection is created and the commands are sent via a command line. The available options depend on the type of web hosting service - on a shared server, for example, files could be transferred or deleted, databases can be imported and exported, and archives could be set up or unpacked. On a virtual or a dedicated server, your options are considerably more - the web server and the database server could be started/stopped/rebooted, server-side software may be set up plus much more. These things aren't possible on a shared server, due to the fact that full root access is required and all the other clients on that server will be affected. Even though SSH is used largely with UNIX-like OSs, there are SSH clients for other OSs as well - Windows, Mac OS, and so on.

SSH Telnet in Web Hosting

SSH access is provided with all Linux web hosting packages which we offer you. With some of them, it's offered by default, while with others it is an optional upgrade that you can include with a couple of mouse clicks from your web hosting CP. You may get SSH access through the section dedicated to it in which you shall also find the info which you need to connect - the host, the port number and the username. You can select the password that you shall use and, if necessary, you'll be able to change it with several clicks from the same spot. All commands that may be used with our shared plans are listed within a help article together with relevant instances. If the SSH access feature is enabled for your account, you'll also be able to upload files using your preferred FTP client via an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Hosting

All our semi-dedicated server accounts offer the possibility to access and control them through SSH. If the plan that you have selected includes this function by default, you simply have to activate the SSH access function via the corresponding section of the Hepsia CP. If the feature is listed as an additional upgrade, you are able to quickly include it using the Add Services/Upgrades link in the Hepsia CP and it shall be available within a minute. We have a number of help articles and educational videos about the use of SSH commands to handle your account and a whole list of the commands that you can perform along with several examples to offer you a better idea of what you could do. If SSH is enabled, you will also be able to establish an SFTP connection to the account and to upload files safely and securely through any FTP application which supports the function.

SSH Telnet in VPS

All our virtual private server solutions feature SSH access as standard, so you will not need to add any upgrades or activate anything - the moment the server is set up and you receive its login details, you'll be able to connect using its primary IP address and the login credentials which you've selected throughout the signup procedure. Because the VPS accounts include full root-level access, there are no restrictions with regards to the commands which you may run. Your server will be isolated from the other ones on the physical machine, so you will be able to manage more or less everything using a command line, including server-side software installations and reboots. This way, you may work with your files, databases and any apps which you install in a fast and safe way.
